Annecy is located at the foot of the French Alps, on Lake Annecy, giving it a spectacular setting with incredible views. Boat tours are one of the attractions on the beautiful lake. Its network of canals that weave through the heart of the town have led to it being compared to Venice. While the town is relatively small, it is an ideal point for touring the region from. Nearby, to the west of the town is the Gorges du Fier (a large and imposing river gorge).
Annecy-Haute-Savoie-Mont-Blanc Airport is the nearest, and taxis run to the town centre.
