Glasgow is Scotland’s second major city after Edinburgh and is situated on the west coast of Scotland. Glasgow is widely renowned for its art and cultural diversity, and is home to some excellent shopping centres; some would argue the best outside of London.

Attractions

The Burrel Collection is one of the main attractions in Glasgow. It is home to a large collection of art which was collected by Sir William Burrel. There is also a Gallery of Modern Art, and nature lovers will appreciate Fossil Grove, where fossilised tree stumps have been well preserved in a beautifully cultivated garden setting.

Shopping

Prince’s Square, on Buchanan Street, is the place to go in Glasgow if you’re looking for designer label shopping, as is the Italian Centre (which, unsurprisingly, specialises in Italian designers). Shops selling traditional Scottish produce and goods can mainly be found in the Merchant City, Sauchiehall Street and Argyle Street. Unique and bohemian shops can be found in Glasgow’s west-end.

Nightlife and Eating out

Seafood, Indian and Chinese restaurants are everywhere in Glasgow. The West End is where most of the restaurants are concentrated. Glasgow has hundreds of pubs and bars to suit every taste – from trendy wine bars to Scottish themed pubs.

Glasgow Airport is Scotland’s busiest airport, and is situated only 8 miles from the city of Glasgow itself. The airport serves almost all domestic destinations, most major European destinations and several US airports as well.
